A base to create “With Science”

Kamioka-town of Hida-city is a major research center for experimental facilities exploring the mystery of the universe and elementary particles, including “Super-Kamiokande” which brought the Nobel Prize in physics in the research of “neutrino”. KamiokaLab is a science-introducing center to enjoy the attractiveness of these studies and opened for everyone to create new relationship between science and society. Please feel the connection between daily life and magnificent story of the universe by experiencing the mysterious nature of elementary particles, that you can not usually feel, with impressive movies, games and thinking.

What is Super-kamiokande?

Super-Kamiokande is the largest underground neutrino detector in the world, hosted by the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, the University of Tokyo. It stydies the nature of neutrinos and tries to reveal the history of the universe using neutrinos.

What is neutrino?

Neutrino is a kind of elementary particles named for “little neutral one” in Italian. Neutrinos are still very mysterious. Neutrino research is currently underway around the world.

    Smoking is only permitted outside at designated areas.
  • Any kind of pets are not allowed in the museum.
    However, assisting dogs for people with disability are allowed.
  • You can take phots freely, but please take care of other visitors.
  • There is no rest room in KamiokaLab.
    Please use rest rooms in the parking lot.
  • Don't get on the top of the exhibits for your own safety.
